Databricks FAQs

What is Databricks Delivery?

Databricks delivery is a method for accessing ATTOM curated real estate and property data inside your Databricks workspace through the Delta Sharing protocol. This gives you immediate access to query ready data with no file transfers or pipeline maintenance.

What is Delta Sharing?

Delta Sharing is an open protocol that enables secure data sharing across platforms. You can learn more about Delta Sharing on the Databricks website at
https://www.databricks.com/product/delta-sharing
ATTOM uses a share to provide access to curated datasets that you connect to your Databricks workspace and organize through a catalog.

Do I need a Databricks account to use this delivery option?

Yes. A Databricks workspace is required since all shared datasets are accessed and queried from within your own environment.

How do I start using ATTOM data in Databricks?

ATTOM grants your organization access to a share. After this step you can connect to the share and create a Databricks catalog that contains the datasets included in your license.

How is data security managed in Databricks Delivery?

Access is controlled through Databricks catalog permissions including role based access control and encrypted data handling. Only users who are granted permissions can query ATTOM datasets.

What costs should I expect when using ATTOM data in Databricks?

You are responsible for Databricks compute and storage costs that occur when querying ATTOM datasets. You can review Databricks pricing information at
https://www.databricks.com/product/databricks-pricing
ATTOM does not cover usage based charges within Databricks.

Can I join ATTOM data with my internal data?

Yes. You can join ATTOM datasets with your own Delta tables or with any other data stored in your Databricks workspace.

What types of ATTOM data are available through Databricks?

Available datasets include assessor and tax assessor data, recorder data, parcel boundaries, school data, climate risk information, building permits, listings, foreclosure data, valuation models, rental information, home sales trends, and additional curated datasets.

Can I use ATTOM data with BI or analytics tools?

Yes. Once ATTOM data is in your Databricks catalog you can connect it to many visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Databricks SQL.

Who do I contact if I need help with Databricks Delivery?

Your ATTOM representative can assist with dataset questions. For workspace configuration or permission issues your Databricks administrator or the Databricks support team can help.
